-Repair broken stairs and handrails to prevent falls and injuries.
- Keep an eye on your exposed foundation walls. Watch for any deterioration and/or cracking. Monitor any change. Remove any wood/soil contact to avoid rot and insect damage.
- Water heaters need to be drained to remove sediment that has settled at the bottom of the tank. check manufacturer's recommendation for testing and/or replacing the temperature pressure relief valve.
- Be sure to maintain your furnace & AC by changing filters regularly an dhaving your HVAC serviced annually.
Check your dryer vent for lint buildup to help avoid fire hazard.
-Check your roof for possible leaks, especially around penetrations such as vents, skylights, and chimneys. Check your chimney for loose mortar and deterioration and make sure it is attached properly.
-Clean out your gutters to ensure that water is being directed away from your foundation.
-An attic needs proper ventilation to keep condensation from forming. If there are no ridge vents, keep your gable vents open year round to keep the air flowing!
- Check the insulation in your attic for proper distribution and thickness.
Inspect the siding for cracks & holes. Caulk or paint may be needed to keep water from penetrating.
Examine your windows and doors for energy loss.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends testing GFCI's monthly to make sure they are working properly. Contact a licensed electrician if there are ANY electrical concerns.
Remember: electrical systems do not get better with age!
Supply plumbing shoud be checked annually for leaks. Know where your main shutoff valve is in case of emergency. Check for leaky faucets and slow drains.
